HOLD ME TIGHT

Follow me on instagram: donna1111111

June has been a horribly stressful month, hence the lack of posts. It was the end of semester at tafe and so all of our assignments were due in, it was literally hell but I got through it. Just. On the bright side, holidays have begun and I can finally breathe again. Can't even begin to explain how great it feels to have nothing to do for once. As much as I love fashion I have to admit it can be really tough sometimes, there's never a dull moment. But I suppose it has to be that way, it wouldn't be the same if it was easy.

SLOW BOAT

tshirt: thrifted | vest: dotti | skirt: friends of fancy | shoes: asos | scrunchie: thrifted

Quick outfit post for you guys today, feels like I havent posted in ages but it's only been a week. I've been insanely stressed out lately, what with tafe and the fox feet website launch! WHICH IS TONIGHT. OMG. Literally just finished my collection last night, well I still need to add a couple of finishing touches like buttons and hooks and eyes and stuff. But I'm so excited. I can't believe I'm showing a collection! I'm 19 and I'm showing my first ever collection! It's a little overwhelming, usually I'm so busy sewing and working on everything that I don't have time to think, but then BAM it just hits me and I start freaking out and go into shock and my heart stops and I have this feeling like I want to cry and I don't know why. But it feels kind of good for some reason. I'm losing my mind. Wish me luck for tonight, and hope you all have an amazing weekend!

IS THIS SOUND OKAY

(OVERLY DRAMATIC HIGH PITCHED SQUEAL) GUYS GUESS WHAT YOU'LL NEVER GUESS WHAT!! NEXT FRIDAY I'LL BE SHOWING MY FIRST EVER COLLECTION. EVER!

As you may know I'm studying fashion at tafe, currently in my second year. Last year I got the incredible opportunity to work backstage at Perth Fashion Week, where I met so many amazing people - including a gorgeous girl named Holly who now works for a non-profit organisation called Fox Feet. I bumped into Holly on my birthday at a place called the Bakery, where she told me all about Fox Feet and an upcoming event they were having. She explained it was to launch their website, and how they would have emerging designers showcasing their latest collections, as well as art, music, photography, and more. What she said next seriously surprised me: "You're still studying fashion, right? You should show some pieces!" I honestly thought she was kidding but here we are now, a week before the show preparing for model fittings, shopping around for accessories, looking for background music, aaaaahhhh its all so exciting! It's the first collection I've ever put together, if you could even call it that (5 outfits, best I could do in such a short amount of time!). If any of you are in Perth you should definitely come down and check it out!

TELL ME WHY

ROUGH SKETCHES - DEVELOPMENTAL IDEAS FOR OUR 'DISTORTION' PROJECT AT TAFE

I have two huge assignments due in at tafe, one tomorrow and one thursday. And yet I spent all day yesterday, the day before, and the day before that, lying in bed watching movies based on, inspired by, and featuring The Beatles. I literally can't go a day without watching one of their movies or listening to their music, it's getting ridiculous.

HAPPINESS IS A WARM GUN

jacket: borrowed from my dad | t-shirt: thrifted | skirt: friends of fancy | socks: jox & sox | shoes: asos | skull necklace: diy | crystal necklace: borrowed from my sister

As great as GTM was last weekend, each and everyone of my friends suffered from post festival sickness. Alexis was sick during the trip, Rory got a cold on Monday, I started sneezing Wednesday, and Kim just caught on today. Still, no regrets. From time to time it's kind of nice to be able to pause life and sit in bed and watch endless amounts of movies and tv shows with a cup of chicken soup or a large mug of ginger honey & lemon tea. I finally finished watching himym and that last episode almost killed me. That ending?!?!? Don't worry, no spoilers here. But yes, the problem with temporarily pausing life is that eventually that play button needs to be pressed. Next week I'll face pissed off lecturers, assignments and deadlines, and enough stress to last a lifetime. I guess that's reality though, it's a reality I chose, and a reality i love. Well, most of the time anyway.

It's 11:59 and the best weekend on my life is coming to an end. It consisted of bands, booze and babes and nothing more. Okay well I didn't drink, my friends did, I prefer being sober at festivals it makes it easier to take it all in and remember everything.

Basically I headed down to Bunbury with my friends for a festival called Groovin' the Moo. It was only a two hour drive but we decided to leave early, and so we stayed over Rory's house on Friday night. It was also his birthday so we had a little pizza and movie night to celebrate. Saturday was a fucking great day, saw some kick-ass bands like Foam, The Love Junkies, Last Dinosaurs, Hungry Kids of Hungary, Tame Impala and The Kooks. We waited four hours for Tame Impala and The Kooks and by the time they started we were front row, right on the barrier. And that's why there's so many photos of them he he he.

When we got back to Perth the next day I decided a 50 minute set from The Kooks at GTM just wasnt enough, so I hopped online and grabbed a ticket for the show that night. I literally got my ticket an hour before the doors opened, (I'm terribly disorganised aren't i?) and this meant I had to go alone cause all my friends were busy. But I did not regret it whatsoever because I was front row smack bang in the middle (again), and I swear to god Luke Pritchard made eye contact with me. Several times. I also touched his guitar, and caught his pick and a fucking drumstick!!! Now I have two drumsticks from bands, one from The Kooks and one from Dune Rats, and it makes me want to have a collection of beaten up drumsticks touched by musical gods sitting on my desk.

So that was the past few days for me, and now it's back to reality and waking up early and catching peak-hour trains and putting my brain to good use. How were all of your weekends?
